A Final Farewell To My Favorite Fraternity

frat

It’s not too often you come across an entire group of boys that you can be 100 percent yourself around. These men are few and far between. Each weekend you manage to make an absolute ass of yourself in their presence and each new weekend they invite you back for more. It’s their belief in you that keeps you inspired to be the blackout queen you are and you wouldn’t want it any other way. Here’s to the boys who helped you make your years in college everything you wanted them to be.

It all began when you started banging one of them (or was it two?) and found yourself at their house every single weekend. Slowly but surely all of the brothers learned your name and you eventually graduated to a nickname. When you walked in a room filled with brothers, they all screamed a welcome to you. It was pretty sweet. You felt like these dudes really had your back. Given, you were letting half of them copy your homework, but in return, they were always sure you got boozed up on the weekends.

You realized you made a name of yourself around their house once their new pledges knew your name before you even knew their faces. You had begun to use their house lingo and you weren’t sure whether to be ashamed or proud of this. New guys looked to you for advice and alumni began to remember you from the few weekends a year they visited. Your social calendar revolved around theirs and you were sure not to miss an event. They were your go-to formal dates and you theirs. Sometimes you even brought a few of them at a time. It began to be that you couldn’t really have a good time out without being with these guys. And no matter what crazy, messed up thing your blacked out self did, they never passed a hint of judgment. I think that’s really what made them so great.

Somehow all of your good stories involved them too. The time you didn’t go to bed before Bid Day because you were too busy partying and had to march around campus completely hungover. Or when you tried *insert drug here* for the first time. Or the week before midterms when you decided it would be more productive to go to the bar with them every single night rather than study. And although you never did end up banging in every room of their house, you’d like to make it a point that you got pretty close.

It wasn’t until your final spring break together that you realized just how much you’re gonna miss these dudes. Through good and bad, you could always count on them to make your time that much better. So here’s to the reckless brothers that shaped your college experience, for teaching you to not give a fuck, live your life, and be as wild as your heart desires.

When she isn't embarrassing herself by making out with randos on the dance floor, you can find her pretending it's normal to drink a glass of wine with breakfast every day. It's fun to sit down with her on Sunday mornings and hear how fucked up her weekend was.
