Bride Takes Bridezilla To A Whole New Level And Asks Guest To Write Her A Bigger Check

When you’re a bride, the day is all about you. And your husband and marriage, I guess. But mostly you. A bride can get away with things that under normal circumstances would be disastrous. Basically, a bride can be as batshit crazy as she wants and everyone will just deal with and subtly talk shit about her behind her back.

One bride, however, found where the line separating normal crazy and positively mental was, and bulldozed right the fuck across it. Per Mumsnet.com, the user Puzzledandpissedoff posted the following comment asking the internet for help:

I recently attended an ex-colleagues’s wedding, where, in response to a request for cash gifts, I sent what I thought was a pretty decent cheque (£100 if it matters, though I can’t help feeling it shouldn’t)

Last night I received an email which opened with a few comments about how glad they were to see everybody and how generous they’d all been, then said “we were surprised that your contribution didn’t seem to match the warmth of your good wishes on our big day. In view of your own position, if you wanted to send any adjustment, it would be thankfully received”

For someone who’s not easily shocked, I confess I’m utterly gobsmacked by this. So as not to drip feed I’ll mention that “your own position” probably refers to a recent inheritance I’ve had, which maybe they expected something from (and this is an ex-colleague, remember, not a close friend or relative)

Please, anyone, what do I do now? I’ve never come across anything like this before and still can’t quite believe they’ve done it – but since they have, should I reply, ring them, ignore it or what?

Like I said, this bride is batshit. I honestly think it’s tacky to explicitly request cash gifts, but then to go and tell an ex-coworker that the generous gift they did send (£100 translates to roughly $150, a perfectly acceptable and average amount) wasn’t enough is so beyond me. I can only hope the bride uses the money she did get to buy etiquette classes.

In response to the desperate plea for help, the internet did what the internet does best and came up with a bevy of appropriate responses. Some of the best were to glitterbomb the bitch, BCC a bunch of other wedding guests and email bridezilla back, or to take to Facebook and publicly humiliate her by posting a screenshot of the email and tagging the bride. While my vote would be all of the above, because who doesn’t love a good Facebook fight, the attendee decided to take the high road, sorta. She responded with a single sentence: “I assume this was some sort of mistake.”

The subtle shade thrown, the simplicity, the perfection of the response. Someone find this girl and give her a bid ASAP because homegirl was born to be Greek.

In other news, she has yet to get a reply and if the bride has any shred of self-respect left, I doubt she’ll ever receive one.
