Many sorority girls dream of finding their frat daddy, being lavaliered, graduating, and going on to marry Prince Charming and live happily ever after. While this may happen to the lucky few, not everyone’s dreams play out this way. Don’t be afraid, though. Here are a few reasons why graduating as a single lady is actually pretty awesome.
1. New Guys At A New Job
It’s nice to be able to check out the hottie at your new job, but be careful. Some HR departments might get upset if they find out you hooked up with him on the copy machine.
2. Flexibility
You can move wherever you want, because you don’t have to find a job close to your boyfriend. You can live where you want with anyone you want, and you don’t have to feel bad that the only time you get to see your man is through a Skype camera or FaceTime.
3. You Can Get Whatever Pet You Want
You still want that black pug your ex said you couldn’t have? Well, now you can have it, and no one can stop you.
4. You Can Travel
You have no strings attached to another person, so you can visit all those places you want to go without having to see if Prince Charming has a free schedule that month.
5. Time With Yourself
You can wake up whenever you want (well, as long as it’s early enough for work) and not have to worry about taking care of another person. There’s no sharing the one clean towel that’s left after a hurried shower before you leave, and that whole coffee pot is yours. You also don’t have to hide the fact that you use the bathroom from anyone.
6. Scheduling
If one of your girlfriends wants to go out for drinks, you don’t have to ask permission. Yes, Prince Charming might be lenient, but when you’re on your own, you can do whatever you want, no matter what. If you want to get a Redbox movie at 3 a.m. just because you feel like it, you go girl.
7. Guys With Jobs Are Better Than Guys In School
Yes, your man may seem wonderful in a school setting where he has no real responsibilities, but he might be a whole different person when he actually has to be productive. If you wait until you get out into the real world to find a guy, he (hopefully) is on the track to having his life together, making it easier to plan for the future with him.
Your relationship status after graduating is your decision, but don’t rush into that decision just because you feel like time has run out when you put on your cap and gown. Your Prince Charming may be just that, but he also may be the guy before your real Prince Charming.
