“Like, you want her to love giving blowjobs?”
“Well, yeah, but no. I want her to be just a little bit nuts, you know. I don’t want to date a boring girl.”
I wasn’t sure what I was hearing. I was having pizza with one of my best guy friends, and over the pizza and a casual beer or four, we somehow landed on the topic of the traits he was looking for in the ideal girlfriend. For the most part, these were very predictable: perky boobs, he’s into brunettes, special weakness for green eyes, loves anal, the usual. But then he slipped the crazy in there as an afterthought.
“I don’t mean a total psychotic bitch,” he clarified. “I don’t want to be afraid she’ll try and kill me if I break up with her. I just like a little spice added in there.”
I pressed him for more clarifying information and came to this astounding conclusion: Guys secretly love crazy girls.
This seems super counter-intuitive since every girl out there is at least a little psycho. But we’ve been trained to try and hide it. Guys like a girl who can hide her crazy, and as it turns out, they also don’t want a girl trying so hard to be normal that she loses that spark that makes her exciting.
Now, I’m not saying you can’t act too boring or guys won’t like you — I’m saying that sometimes, letting your crazy show a little bit sounds like it can be a really good idea. It makes you just a little dangerous, and guys are into that. He might enjoy not being able to predict your exact next move. If a guy suddenly stops responding to your texts and sexy Snapchats, and you’ve been trying a little too hard to be his calm and collected housewife, he could very well be freaked out and convinced you’re some kind of Stepford robot. He doesn’t want you to key his car and set his shit on fire, most likely, but he doesn’t need you to be totally buttoned up and perfect.
This doesn’t mean that you need to change who you are if you’re just one of those super chill girls. I’m not saying guys don’t like that, either. Guys are weird. They like weird shit, and if he’s into you, he’ll be into you because of who you are, whatever that might look like. But if you find yourself constantly trying to tone down your urge to get a little crazy, consider turning that back up again. Don’t be afraid to really take a chance and do something totally unexpected, like sneaking into his room, locking yourself in, and sending him naked Snapchats while he’s in class. It might sound a little wild, but if he likes you at all, no guy is going to complain when a hot girl starts sending him nudes and reminding him what he has waiting for when he gets out of class and makes it home.
So, go ahead. Let a little crazy show. He just might fall at your feet..
