Here’s A First Look At “Anastasia” On Broadway

anastasia the musical

I couldn’t contain my excitement when news first broke that “Anastasia” was coming to Broadway and that it was going to be turned into a musical. The movie centers around Anya, an independent and sassy young woman who discovers she’s actually a princess. The outfits, the songs, the story — it was all so beautiful back in 1997 on VHS so I’m sure seeing it live would be infinitely more magical.

Luckily, I don’t have to wait much longer to find out. “Anastasia” is coming to Broadway early next spring, and because we know you just couldn’t wait until then, here’s a little sneak peak of what’s to come.

Those incredible vocals are coming from Christy Altomare, who plays Anya. The musical previews on Broadway March 23 and opens April 24 at the Broadhurst Theatre.

The official description of the musical reads:

From the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, the new musical Anastasia is the romantic, adventure-filled story of a brave young woman attempting to discover the mystery of her past.

Tickets go on sale October 7th, and because I know you’re all wondering, here’s what the real, live Dmitri looks like.
