Ashley Adamietz is a senior at Foothill High School at Palo Cedrio, CA. But instead of worrying about senior prom and where she is going to go to college, Ashley has bigger things on her mind. She was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia in early August, and despite undergoing daily chemotherapy treatments ever since, she was on hand to cheer on her school’s football team on Friday night. In return, the football team had a surprise for her.

Each of the team’s 57 players laid an orange rose at Ashley’s feet as they entered the field. Orange is the color for leukemia awareness, and the team wanted to let Ashley know they were thinking about her. Senior football player Ryan Caetano, who organized the surprise, told KRCR, “She’s part of the cougar family, so why not let her know that we’re all here for her. We are. So I wanted to let that be known to everybody, and especially to her, for what she’s going through.”

You can watch the moment the team surprises Ashley below. I swear, I’m not crying.

According to KRCR, Ashley “has declined recent interviews regarding this story, as she’s going through treatment” but posted on her Twitter account (which is private) that said she was, “shocked, overwhelmed, and speechless” by the surprise from her team. Head Football coach Joey Brown captured this pic of Ashley with her roses:

And now, her entire high school is getting in on the act, encouraging everyone to wear orange to this week’s football game:

This is almost enough to make me miss high school. Good job, guys.

There really did used to be 2NOTBrokeGirls, but since one of them spent all of her money on shoes and vodka, there's now just one (financially stable) J, who is too lazy to change her user name. J spends her free time saving the world, one sorority girl at a time (usually while wearing yoga pants), questioning why she decided to go to graduate school, and documenting her love of all things cheese related. You can ask her anything you want about football, using your boobs to get what you want, and pizza at @2NOTBrokeGirls on Twitter or 2NOTBrokeGirls@gmail.com.
