I Changed My Favorite Color To Pink And Became A Real Woman

True Life Everything I Own Is Pink

Blue had always been my favorite color. It’s cool, calm, and collected. Even the brightest blues are’t too in-your-face. It’s chill in any shade. You could match it with pretty much anything, not to mention it brought out my eyes. My room was blue, my purse was blue, my toothbrush was blue, even things like my plastic plates and cups in my dorm were blue. I felt like it matched me. I was a blue girl. I was defying the stereotypes and girliness and still looking good. But one day, good wasn’t good enough. I wanted to look great and feel great too. That’s when I discovered what I had been fighting all this time: pink.

At first, pink was just the symbol of “girl.” It was almost cliché. It was like, oh you’re a girl you have to like pink. And since I don’t like being told what to do, I purposefully chose other colors. But pink is so much more than just girl, just like girl is so much more than just pink. Being a girl has so many opportunities for fun. We accessorize everything, which means anything you can dream of can be pink. Even the flavor pink is the best. Pink starbursts, pink lemonade, pink cotton candy. It looks just as good as it tastes.

As much as we complain about it, it can be so much fun painting on our faces and doing our hair and wearing cute clothes. It’s worth it when we go out with our clan of clones and look super hot. And you know what color looks super hot on everyone? Pink. It says, “I’m a woman who will turn you into a man.” You’ve wrangled up all the power of femininity and wearing it is like an suit of estrogen-fueled armor.

I was worried that being too girly would make me unrelateable to guys, but if they wanted to date someone to talk about video games and sports with, they should date one of their “buddies.” Pink lets you be unapologetically girly and fun. Your hot pink lipstick can sing along loudly to the Britney Spears song that you requested yourself, your pink dress can sway along to the song, and your pink heels can stomp right past any guy who tries to disrespect you. The power that pink possesses is profound.

Pink is the embodiment of the modern woman. Pink blasts pop music and dances in the mirror. Pink’s acrylic nails click loudly on her phone screen as she texts hot gossip to her friends. Pink looks good even when just doing errands. Pink doesn’t chase boys, they’re always chasing her. Pink doesn’t like coffee, but she’ll choke down a sugary concoction because it matches her aesthetic. Pink is always color coordinated, because nothing matches pink better than pink. Pink doesn’t have a favorite drink at the bar, because she’ll drink it all. Pink is that bitch.

I don’t like pink because I’m a woman. I’m a woman because I like pink.
