Instagram Might Be Adding A “Save Draft” Feature

Everyone has a system for the way they upload and edit their Instagram photos, and if you say you don’t, you’re lying. I know what my favorite filters are and how to adjust the shit out of shadowed lighting until it looks like that picture taken after sunset looks flawless. If I were Instagram famous, I’m sure I’d need to invest much more of my time in outsourcing my editing needs to other photo editing websites, but *spoiler* I’m not. I’m a regular person who pretty much doesn’t have time to mess around with any other editing platform because otherwise I’d spend all day there and never speak to another human again. However, as much as I love Instagram, the obsession doesn’t come without drawbacks.

I’m not sure how many times I’ve spent twenty minutes editing a picture I was planning to upload and then getting distracted by my boss yelling at me and closing out the app, only to lose all my hard-won progress. Some people might like to just slap a random filter on a photo and call it good, but I get weirdly Type A with my edits and I won’t apologize for that. Luckily for me, and every other Insta-fanatic out there, Instagram just made things a little easier on us fools who can take a half hour to edit a picture only to lose it all with one touch.

There hasn’t been an official announcement quite yet, but the rumors are circulating that Instagram released a draft option for in-progress photos. Basically, the idea is that if you close out the app for whatever reason while you’re in the process of editing a photo, Instagram will ask you if you’d like to save a draft to keep working on later, or if you’d prefer to discard your work (LOL, yeah right.)

If it sounds too good to be true, it is. The new feature appeared on a few Instagram users phones in July, but it appears this rollout was just a test. Some people even said that the featured appeared and then disappeared on their phones. WTF, Instagram? Tech Crunch has confirmed that the “Save Draft” feature is just an experiment for the time being, unfortunately.

I’m not trying to sound dramatic but this would literally change my life. At the very least, my productivity should increase with the option to save my work, so I’ll waste way less time online. JK, no I won’t, but who cares? Make it happen, Instagram.

My favorite things are tiaras, compliments, and free drinks, which are becoming harder to come by the more I tend to show up at the bar in sweat pants. The proudest moment of my life so far has been landing an actual, paying job that allows me to Facebook stalk people for a living. I tweet about my mom way too often, who is constantly trying to remind me that I'm not nearly as cool as I think I am. Please send me funny stories to read at work here: [email protected]
