Putting hope out there for every girl on the cast of Teen Mom, Jamie Lynn Spears, the younger, sluttier sister of my girl Brit Brit, got engaged this past Saturday to boyfriend Jamie Watson. Spears, 21, and Watson, 30, have been dating off and on for the past three and a half years. As unstable as their relationship seemed on the surface, apparently the two were able to get their shit together for a long enough period of time to merit a ring. I don’t know a thing about her fiance, other than the fact that he shares a first name with his bride-to-be, but the two actually do look pretty cute together.
Jamie Lynn took to Instagram to share her big news. She posted a filtered picture of the two of them with the caption, “Guess What?????” She then posted the obligatory up-close ring picture with the hashtag “#hedidgood,” showing us all that she really is just a typical girl from Louisiana. As much as I hate pave rings, her ring is actually really pretty. What a bitch.
This is the second engagement for Spears, who was previously engaged to Casey Aldridge, the father of her 4-year-old daughter, Maddie. Spears has been splitting her time between her hometown of Kentwood, LA, where her spawn goes to school, and Nashville, TN, where she is attempting to make a country music album.
Britney tweeted her well wishes yesterday, saying, “So excited and happy for my sister, congrats @jamielynnspears – love you.” It was a nice attempt to try to convince us all that she’s not in the least bit bitter about her sister getting engaged shortly following the demise of her own engagement to Jason Trawick.
Either way, it looks like there’ll be a solid Spears family wedding sometime soon. Let’s just see if Jamie Lynn can make it down the aisle this time, giving the world two Jamie Watsons.
