Man Breaks Into Home Because He Needed To Charge His Phone

We do a lot of crazy things to charge our phones. I’ve been that girl at the bar who asked the bartender to plug her phone into one of the outlets behind the bar, and sorry, I’m not sorry about it. I gave him a fat tip and my number, so I think that’s a fair exchange. I’ve done some things I’m not proud of to charge my phone, but I would never break into someone’s house. A man in New Jersey did just that, all because he needed to charge his phone.

Jason Hubbard allegedly broke into a home in New Jersey as the homeowner was taking out the trash and left the door open. Hubbard snuck in and hid under the guest room bed for a very long three days, only to be discovered when the homeowner heard a noise and called the police. Hubbard used his three days under the bed to charge his four cellphones. What does anyone need four phones for? I only have one and I’ve lost it twice, I can’t imagine trying to keep track of four.

Luckily Hubbard didn’t do anything else but charge his phone during the three days he spent under the homeowner’s bed, even though he could’ve easily robbed or assaulted the people in the home. It’s still scary, but it could’ve been much worse.

Hubbard is now being charged with criminal trespass, burglary and theft of services, which all could’ve been avoided if he had stopped in a McDonald’s or Starbucks and commandeered their electricity, instead of committing of a felony.
