Monsters, Inc. Goes Greek (Composite Photos)

Monsters, Inc., a heartwarming tale of two monsters and a little girl changing the monster world for the better, is arguably one of the best Pixar films ever created. This summer, a prequel titled Monsters University, will follow the main characters during their college years. I was already pumped about this movie, but when I found out that 1) Mike Wazowski and Sully were fratstars back in the day and 2) a large part of the plot revolves around the monster version of Greek Week (The Scare Games), I could hardly contain my excitement. That’s right, Monsters University has a Greek system, complete with a Greek council. Pixar has released the composites. Warning: your heart may explode at the extreme cuteness.

Fraternities:

Roar Omega Roar (RΩR)

ROR-jpg_155146
The cream of the crop when it comes to monster fraternities, RΩR is a well-established organization at Monsters University and prides itself on its time-honored traditions and prestigious legacy. These guys are the best scarers around. They come from families whose scaring talents can be traced back for generations. They sport polos and visors, so it’s safe to assume these guys embrace the preppy fraternity style and culture we so love.

Oozma Kappa (OK)

MU-OK
Described as “A collection of wholesome, good-natured misfits” and “adorable”, OK obviously isn’t top-tier material. They were, however, smart enough to give bids to the future best-scaring duo in the monster world (Sully and Mike), so they must have some staying power in the Monster University fratmosphere. These guys will probably fill the role of ‘scrappy underdogs’ and will most likely win the moral victory, if not The Scare Games.

Jaws Theta Chi (JOX)

JOX
After just one look at these guys, “meathead” and “tryhards” are the words that come to mind. It’s no surprise that the brothers of JOX live at the gym and take The Scare Games a little too seriously. I’d like to think that the monster world would have TotalFratMonsterMove.com, and that these would be the bros featured on Monster Fail Friday. Pixar really nailed this one. TFMM.

Sororities:

Python Nu Kappa (PNK)

PNK
The ladies of PNK seem to be hybrids of Blair Waldorf and The Plastics in monster form, except they would never limit wearing pink to one day a week. These girls ooze that perfect blend of sophistication and snobbery. They are far and above the top sorority on campus. Don’t let their sweet and perfectly manicured exterior fool you, PNK is known for getting ruthless during The Scare Games. Oh, and YOU CAN’T SIT WITH THEM.

Eta Hiss Hiss (HSS)

HSS
While being a more “alternative” sorority isn’t a good thing in the real world, it can be a asset in the monster world. It shouldn’t be a huge shock to find out that the HSS girls excel in The Scare Games every year since they seem to be the monster equivalent to the types of women who’d make you their bitch in prison. The dean of the university, one of the most powerful and scary monsters of all time is an alumna of this sorority, so they have a pretty strong presence on campus.

Slugma Slugma Kappa (∑∑K)

EEK
By the looks of it, ∑∑K is full of PNK rejects. Like most lower-tier sororities, what they lack in popularity they make up for in determination and an eagerness to please. While the other sororities are Scare Games veterans, these ladies are just happy to finally be invited. ∑∑K apparently has the stamina and athletic ability to be a real contender in The Scare Games this year, so they’ll probably be clawing for the win. Bless their hearts, after a lifetime of losing they really need one.

Monsters University Greek Council

Greek-Council
President Claire Wheeler and VP Brock Pearson are the elected leaders of the Monsters U Greek system. Claire is described as having a brooding exterior that houses a large amount of school spirit. As an added bonus, she is voiced by the hilarious Aubrey Plaza. Brock, on the other hand, has a big and loud personality that matches his big and loud appearance. He’s incredibly enthusiastic, and the spit monster image of the fraternity guys that lead my campus tours back in the day. The inclusion of these two adds the perfect touch of authenticity to what is sure to be a great and adorable representation of Greek life.
