Pointy Shoes Are Back

I’ve fought it long and hard but it’s time to accept the fact that pointy shoes are back.

I know, I know, you just finally gave away all of your pointy shoes from high school as they’ve been collecting dust in the back of your closet for a few years, but it’s fine because those shoes were old and you’ll want all new ones anyway. If you’re a die-hard fashionista or living in a city that actually has fashion, like New York or LA, you may have already started up your new shoe collection, but the rest of us in our meager college towns are still loving, sporting, and buying the sky-high round-toed, platform pumps that midget celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Jessica Simpson helped to popularize. Even the red-soled genius, Louboutin, known for the funky, giant heels we’ve all grown accustomed to, is indulging in the new slash old trend. It starts with all the top designers and the shit you can’t really afford…I mean, kidding, I can afford everything, I’m really rich…but when I saw the pointy-toe Steve Maddens in DSW I knew it was time to start considering making the switch…back.

Does this mean you need to get rid of all your shoes and start anew? Hardly. We’ve probably got a few years actually before round toes look ridiculous…and fortunately, designers know what they’re doing and they’re starting us small. The pointys aren’t SUPER pointy, but moderately so, as to ease us into the transition. I’m still not 100% sure how I feel about this, but unfortunately, fashion isn’t up to the consumer so I guess I’ll be buying a pair in due time.

Goodbye, six-inchers. You’ll be missed.
