If there’s anything I learned from my career in competitive dance (and whole lot of stalking elite cheer squads via YouTube), it’s how to appreciate a mashup. I may be hilariously out of shape and beyond rusty, but play a good mashup, and I transform. Before you know it I’m a hair whipping, lip syncing, musical sensation. There’s a magical power mashups hold that I don’t think we’ll ever be able to comprehend. I’m positive that a mashup just epic enough could result in a spontaneous global flash mob style, choreographed musical outburst that could achieve world peace. Is my show choir background showing?
As each year comes to an end, and we all wonder how TF that happened so fast, it also means that our ears are soon to be graced with the masterpiece that is the end-of-the-year mashup. In case you’ve been living in a musical black hole, let me introduce you to the greats.
