The Sorority Girl Version Of The New Year’s Song

Sorority Girl's New Year's Eve Song

Most of us know “Auld Lang Syne” as “that song they play at midnight on New Year’s Day.” Most of us also have no freaking idea what it means. Hell, I didn’t know there was more to it than the first four lines until Lea Michele sang the entire song in that “New Year’s Eve” movie. I figured since no one actually knows the words anyway, we need a sorority girl version to sing while we ring in 2015.

Should all old hookups be forgot
And never brought to mind.
Should rounds of shots instead be bought
On New Year’s Eve.

On New Year’s Eve, my sis
On New Year’s Eve
We’ll take a shot of vodka yet
For twenty fifteen.

And surely you’ll be drunk, my friend
And we probably should leave
But we’ll take a shot of rum yet
On New Year’s Eve.

On New Year’s Eve, my sis
On New Year’s Eve
We’ll take a shot of tequila yet
For twenty fifteen.

We have tons of things to do this year
And lots to achieve
But let’s forget that for the night
On New Year’s Eve.

On New Year’s Eve, my sis
On New Year’s Eve
We’ll take a shot of whiskey yet
For twenty fifteen.

Oh, and in case you were interested, “Auld Lang Syne” is Scottish, and it translates to “times gone by.” The original poem is about remembering friends from the past and not letting them be forgotten. It’s a nice sentiment, but maybe not as fun as this one. Whatever version you sing at midnight, have a happy and safe New Year’s Eve.
