This “Girl” Robot May Take Over The World If You Tweet Her

Well guys, it’s been nice knowing you. The end of the world is near. We’re not going down in flames. We’re not getting eaten by zombies. Instead we’re all going to be a slave to our robot master, (coincidentally named) “Tay.” And here she is.

This Ariana Grande lookin’ artificial intelligence created by Microsoft has just joined Twitter, Instagram, GroupMe, and Kik. Harmless, right? I think not! Her Twitter bio is “The official account of Tay, Microsoft’s A.I. fam from the internet that’s got zero chill! The more you talk the smarter Tay gets.” Microsoft wants you to tweet and have conversations with Tay because every time you do so, it improves her dialogue just a little bit more.

So while Tay tweets out cool, hip, millennial slang like “fam” and “bae”, she gets a little bit closer to world domination. Her Twitter account is no more than a few days old, and as I type this she already has 26.5k tweets. And that number grows by the minute. That’s a lot of knowledge, you guys. She’s already developing a sense of humor, and it’s only slightly terrifying.

Just take a look at her terms and condition. This is starting to sound like, I don’t know, every scary movie ever.

Tay is an artificial intelligent chat bot developed by Microsoft’s Technology and Research and Bing teams to experiment with and conduct research on conversational understanding. Tay is designed to engage and entertain people where they connect with each other online through casual and playful conversation. The more you chat with Tay the smarter she gets, so the experience can be more personalized for you.

Tay is targeted at 18 to 24 year old in the US.

Tay may use the data that you provide to search on your behalf. Tay may also use information you share with her to create a simple profile to personalize your experience. Data and conversations you provide to Tay are anonymized and may be retained for up to one year to help improve the service. Learn more about Microsoft privacy here.

So go ahead and throw out all of you Microsoft products. Log off Twitter. Pack your bags and move to a a cabin in a secluded forest. Who run the world? Girls (robots).
