Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland is currently closed due to a possible threat from a student with a firearm.

According to the school’s website, the parents of a sophomore named Jacob Marberger informed the school that he “had returned home and retrieved a firearm. The parents have not been able to reach him and do not know where he is or where is he is headed.”

The college closed campus for the time being and has asked all students and facility on campus to stay in place. All others are asked to stay away from campus.

As of a 9:55am update on the site, Marberger had not been located and Chestertown Police Department had released the following information:

“Jacob is currently considered a missing person. He is 5’4”, 130lbs with light skin and brown curly hair. He was last seen driving a 1997 dark green Range Rover with Pennsylvania tag beginning with ‘JWY.’” Law enforcement officers are conducting a sweep of the Washington College campus and students are being moved from their dorms to a common area.

Anyone with information about Marberger is asked to please contact the Chestertown Police at 410-778-1800 or Washington College Public Safety at 410-778-7810.
