Trust me, I have a backup bro (who by many others’ standards is a TFB) and he will never, ever be anything more than just my “friend.” Sad but true. You think they’re clingy, obsessed, your friends will say the same. I feel terrible but such is life.

This would almost be cute if it wasn’t completely ripped off from Betches Love This’ post about the Back Burner Bro.

What is the best way to keep your make-up on and from smearing throughout the heat of the day? <3 Pan Love ladies!!

MAC Long Wearing line is amazing for face products, and using Urban Decay Primer Potion will make your eye makeup literally bulletproof. I went swimming last night after being at the beach all day, and my makeup was still completely in-tact and perfect THIS MORNING! Simply incredible.

Can any of you lovely ladies recommend to me a good bronzer?

Depends if you like shimmer or not! If yes, then NARS Laguna or Tarte Park Ave. Princess are great. If not (like me), I’d recommend Cargo Medium Matte, Benefit Hoola, or Bare Escentuals Tan.

Also, whoever said something about Urban Decay Naked palette – SO worth it! I use it all the freakin’ time. So versatile but never looks gaudy or overdone!

MAC Long-Wear concealer is the absolute best I have ever used – stays on through sweat, tears, long nights, swimming, everything! Love NARS blushes and lipsticks, Urban Decay shadows (and Primer Potion is a total necessity), Maybelline mascaras, and Bare Minerals loose powder liners.

Just to add to what I’ve seen thus far-

The Great and Terrible Beauty series- FABULOUS! Dark and mysterious, anyone who likes a little magic/supernatural element to their stories will love these.

Little Bee- SO incredibly sad, but also a beautiful story. A great read, but not for anyone looking for a good pick-me-up.

Gods in Alabama- awesome book! Great for anyone raised in a small town in the South will relate perfectly.

Hunger Games- haven’t read it yet, but literally every person I have talked to has loved it. The next read on my list.

For all the F. Scott Fitzgerald fans out there, Kate Chopin is what I would consider the female version of him. My personal favorite, “The Awakening.” Old-time literature with a modern theme that any woman worth her wits would love.

Also, for anyone who has ever read “The Giver”, there is a second book (not a sequel, but definitely goes along with the same futuristic theme) called “Gathering Blue.” If you liked The Giver, it is a guarantee you will love this one as well.

For an easy pool read, grab The Clique. I can’t remember the author, but its a short, fun book for a day by the beach, etc.

Oh my gosh, YES to everything! The Awakening is one of my favorites, and even though I read The Giver and Gathering Blue in junior high, I still love them to this day.

I absolutely recommend “Water for Elephants” – phenomenal book! Love it!

I usually don’t like recently published novels (more of a classic literature girl), but Water for Elephants definitely now qualifies as one of my favorite books. I was determined to finish it before the movie was released, which wasn’t a problem at all because it’s so enticing. I bought Bel Ami at the same time, hoping to read it before the movie is released. I should probably get on that.

I’m a total sucker for Faulkner and Fitzgerald. The men were absolute geniuses when it came to writing. I don’t think you can go wrong with either of them.

The Catcher in the Rye is quite possibly my favorite book of all time.

Ugh I need to give Faulkner another shot. I tried The Sound and The Fury during senior year of high school and got unbelievably lost and discouraged with it.

southrnbellenasaddie – I highly recommend The Poisonwood Bible. One of my all-time favorites; Barbara Kingsolver is brilliant. I just finished one of her other novels, The Lacuna, and it was amazing as well.

My favorite author is F. Scott Fitzgerald, and I’m currently working on The Beautiful and Damned. Incredible thus far! The Great Gatsby and This Side of Paradise are my two favorites by him.

I just picked up The Help by Kathryn Stockett at the library. Such an interesting, easy read so far, and I can’t wait for the movie!

Some of my other favorite books are Still Life with Woodpecker by Tom Robbins, Catch-22 by Joseph Heller, Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell, and nearly anything Kurt Vonnegut.

field hockey. classic rich girl sport.

hmm sweetie- not so much. One stick and a few (albeit cute) ribbons comes no where near golf, ski, or sailing expenses…. and of course lets not even begin to compare eq to FH.

I think FH’s cute and def srat but it is too new to be “classic” and can def be pretty cheap on the spectrum.

I beg to disagree, dear. I don’t think you’ll find any guy that claims football is NF, but lacrosse expenses > football expenses, undoubtedly. Price has nothing to do with srattiness, classiness, or preppiness (and anyways – money talks but wealth whispers, darling). Lacrosse is America’s first sport, is played and perfected at the best preparatory schools, and you get to wear cute bows and skirts 🙂 Sounds pretty sratty to me!

Oh my gosh this happens way too often to my sisters and I. As much as I’d like to say I’m flattered, my heart breaks a little for them every time – I can’t imagine ending up in the wrong sorority and being miserable 🙁 It must be awful.

Riding, competitive dance/cheer (serious study of dance without competing is fine too; I’m mostly referring to ballet), tennis, golf, sailing, crew, lacrosse, and field hockey.

Lilly Pulitzer bedding from Garnet Hill, of course. Also, I love to outline my monogram on canvas and glue buttons, old earrings i’ve lost one of and silk flowers on the letters, then i paint over it all with one color and add glitter. The different textures make them all unique and adorable!

I would love to see a picture of your personal monograms they sound so cute!

Yes! Please post a pic? They sound presh!

Agreed! Also, LOVE the Lilly bedding in Garnet Hill! I also made curtains out of this gorgeous blue silk, it really adds to the room!

I fourth this! I like the idea of it but I’m having a hard time picturing what it actually looks like. Snaps to any crafting, though!

Girls, any suggestions of perfume? I am addicted to my Miss Dior Cherie but I’m looking to try something new. Any ideas of something light, floral and classy?

I know this brand is so unbelievably gaudy and tacky, but Juicy Couture makes some lovely perfumes – the original is my favorite and I get more compliments on this perfume than any other.

Pink1874 – HATE the feather trend. Ugly, disgusting, and very Ke$ha-ish.

Betty Draper – how did I forget Barbour jackets?! Adore mine.

dgsoiree, that is the most precious idea! I might have to pass this along to my sisters!

I recently stumbled across Milly of New York. I think the dresses are beautiful. Thoughts? http://www.millyny.com/

I also looked up the Chan Luu bracelets… love them! They’re a bit on the pricey side to layer multiples (I get nervous when I’m wearing thousands of dollars of jewelry for no special occasional), but I’m definitely going to pick out one or two! Thanks for the find!

Milly dresses are gorgeous, I wore several to proms in high school!

Priscilla of Boston and Monique Lhullier are my favorites. And J. Crew does make wonderful dresses for anyone shopping on a conservative budget. In fact, I think some of them would be perfect for more casual weddings.
Obviously, Kate Middleton’s was the holy grail of all wedding dresses 🙂

What is the best place to get pearls?

Go to a nice (ie., not Kay, Zales, etc.) jewelry store and ask a sales associate to help you pick out a respectable pair. You don’t need to buy an incredibly expensive pair, so long as they are real pearl and have either gold or sterling backings.

Coach…I feel like every girl has a coach nowadays. Are they exclusive enough to be considered srat or does carrying one blend you in with the geeds?

I’ve been anti-Coach for a long time now because it just stirs up bad mental images of middle schoolers carrying around giant knockoff logo bags, but I must say that some of their new stuff is absolutely adorable. If any of you read cupcakesandcashmere.com, the writer, Emily, just designed a bag with Coach and it is gorgeous!

Longchamp or Herve Chapelier are both fine choices for everyday/school bags – if they’re monogrammed, even better! Vera Bradley is reserved for either the junior high/high school crowd, or the middle aged crowd…although their duffels are fantastic.
I personally think Chacos are heinous, but I do understand regional trends – they’re just not big where I am. Rainbows, Jack Rogers, and Sperrys are my standard shoes. Norts are fine in moderation; I can’t stand it when I girls don’t have any personal style and just stick to oversized T’s and Norts every single day. Tie-dye is fine for fun event T’s but I would never buy something tie-dyed at a store.
As far as jewelry, Yurman is great but a little overplayed in my book. There’s nothing wrong with owning beautiful jewelry from local designers or shops; it adds more personality to your look than just wearing the same stack of Yurman cable bracelets. Pearls are the perfect earrings, and I must say, Michael Kors knows how to make a great (and relatively inexpensive) watch. Oh, and can’t forget Ray-Bans – I love them all, from Aviators to Clubmasters to Wayfarers!
