When she's not busy writing and doing the layout for Enquiry Weekly, running the AHI Undergraduate fellows (theahi.org), figure skating or hanging with her Republican Club boys, Amy is busy planning recruiting events for ELS at Hamilton College (which is technically a [co-ed] frat but whatever). She is an avid lover of musical theatre and history and has a reference for just about any situation. She spends what little free time she has sobbing over the cute boys at Hamilton and Lilly Pulitzer wishing she had one of the former to buy her the latter. You can contact her at [email protected]
Gotta love Michelle Obama’s restrictions on food in schools. This school isn’t the only one banning sweets; EVERY school that accepts federal funding for subsidizes lunches is required to comply with the mandates, meaning that every food in school must be under 200 calories, low fat, and sodium free. That includes things students bring to school for their classes. So no more cupcakes or other treats in any school.
The thing is though, it doesn’t just happen on Jezebel. Several years ago I was a member of two websites that were plagued by repeated attacks by spammers doing a similar thing; sending private messages to every member (they were small sites) including decapitated and disemboweled bodies, pornographic images, and various other disturbing images, and these were sent several times a week. The sites eventually shut down, but the point is this is not the first time it had ever happened, and it’s more common than people realize. The internet is filled with trolls who want nothing more than to shock you and get that reaction. It’s not a women’s issue; it’s an issue with immature trolls.
The struggle is real at these schools! My school also deducts outside scholarships from aid they give you, so no matter what you’re still forced to pay exorbitant amounts for tuition!
I, personally, am all in favor of JCrew releasing a size 000. I think it’s wonderful that they’re trying to expand their market to more locations across the globe, and accommodating the sizes of women in those other locations is simply a part of what they will have to do to be welcomed into the market. Despite the fact that I will never ever be able to fit into a 000 thanks to wide hips, I think that it’s great that they’re opening the market up to naturally thinner women who will be able to wear that size. It’s all about appealing to a wider clientele base, and if that’s the method they want to take to boost sales, good for them.
That particular clause in the Constitution’s first amendment did not establish a separation of Church and State in the United States; it stated that the government could not declare a national religion, nor could it forbid the practice of religion.
This article perfectly describes most of my Republican friends, and I think it accurately describes most young people who consider themselves Republican, as the average Republican youth these days has become a Libertarian (I personally identify as a traditionalist conservative, but it’s nice to see that there is some hope for the rest of the right for our generation).
All of the sororities and frats at my school were banned from pledging this year (except for mine because they don’t haze) because evidently their hazing was not creating a “safe environment” for those involved. I think it really shows a decline of the standards of our time. Everyone has to be coddled and nothing bad can possibly happen because it’s too mean. I’m not going to lie, I wish the frat (yes frat) I was in hazed. I feel like I would be so much closer to my pledge class if they did.
Oh my God yes. When I was flying home at the end of the school year the lady sitting next to me on the plane had a kid with her and literally the entire flight the kid would not shop reaching over and yanking on my hair!

I strongly doubt the validity of this list. My school didn’t make it, and we are darn hot here (definitely hotter than our rival who made the list).

My mom went to Alverno.

Oh yeah! I got an email about the open casting call for Anna and Elsa!

I wish I was on the receiving end of this clothing drive. I’d love some free Vineyard Vines shorts.
This is literally my life.
