Starbucks Hates Us, Is Raising Its Prices Again

Starbucks

Ever since I started going to the mall in middle school to get double chocolatey chip frappuccinos with the clique that made up my MySpace Top 8, Starbucks has been taking all of my money. While my preferences evolved from fraps to macchiatos to seasonal beverages to quad lattes, my spending habits, unfortunately, have stayed predictable with a handful of increasingly expensive Starbs beverages a week. Unfortunately for all of you Starbucks addicts, or those who are just too lazy to make their own morning coffee, your 15-minute morning drive-thru routine is about to get more expensive.

Even though we’re already paying more for our free drinks with the new Starbucks rewards, we’re about to be slammed with higher prices beginning July 12. Next week, you can start expecting to pay up to an extra 30 cents for your favorite coffee beverages. While that may not seem like a lot for a one-time occurrence, for those of us who live and breathe Starbs, it’s going to add up, especially considering I can’t even get two iced grande skinny quad caramel lattes on one $10 reload on my Starbucks card.

However, there’s still some hope — the price increase will only be on certain items. The bad news is that these are the items you’re most likely to purchase, such as the unique seasonal beverages. This change is part of Starbucks’ annual price increase program, meaning that, unfortunately, there will never be any relief in sight for us. Might as well get used to it and take advantage of the next few days when you’ll be able to get your drinks at the (albeit still very over-priced) cost you’re used to. On the bright side, at least you’ll be able to crawl towards that free drink with your Starbucks app just a little bit faster.
