This Is The Best Thing To Hit Social Media Since Instagram

Social Media

Many of us use emojis as a form of communicating. When I’m feeling sassy – hair flip girl. When I’m sort of down – one tear sad face. When I’m super pissed at my boyfriend – the knife and the eggplant. But unfortunately our favorite social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram didn’t support the use of emojis in hashtags, making it difficult to share those emotions – until now.

In an update released on Monday, Instagram added the feature to include emojis in hashtags. According to Instagram’s blog:

We’re bringing you a bonus update: you can also now use emoji in your hashtags. Over the past few years, emoji have become part of a universal visual language. And just as we share photos and videos, we use emoji to communicate emotions and feelings in ways that anyone can understand, regardless of language or background. With emoji hashtags, you can discover even more by adding them to your own photos and videos, searching them on the Explore page and tapping on them when you see them in captions.

The Instagram update also includes three new filters, Lark, Reyes and Juno, which Instagram says are “inspired by weekend adventures outdoors.” I’m personally not super-outdoorsy, but I’m excited that there are now Instagram filters that can make it look like I am! Hashtag-guy-in-a-canoe.
