15 Unoriginal, Overused Instagram Captions That Need To Die

The most important part of any Instagram is the caption. Too often is this critical part of the ‘gram overlooked in the hurry to post the picture and rack up those likes. But what ever happened to “quality, not quantity”? If you’ve ever just totally given up on trying to come up with a clever caption, you’ve most definitely used one of these:

  1. “The definition of our friendship.”
This is most likely a candid picture of you and your friend laughing. Not original. Try again.
  2. “A brunette and a blonde with an inseparable bond.”
Hold on. You have a friend with a different hair color than you? What a totally unique and uncommon occurrence. This calls for a picture.
  3. “But first, let me take a selfie.”
This is a sad attempt at humor to distract from your vanity.
  4. “___ bound!” when referring to a city/vacation destination.
Now we can stalk you all the way there.
  5. “Dysfunctional.”
I can actually think of several things more “dysfunctional” than a photo of your drunk shenanigans. Like, perhaps the economy or the Duggar family.
  6. Dinner/Formal/any event with “this guy.”
Who is this “this guy” that everyone keeps talking about? He sure seems like a popular dude.
  7. “Good vibes.”
    You are so Zen.
  8. “Reunited and it feels so good.”
I wonder how Peaches & Herb feel about their 1978 hit song being applied to photos of sorority girls hugging after not seeing each other for ten days.
  9. “Squad” when referring to 5 or more people.
Your “squad” looks super badass. Not sure if I should ever mess with you guys.
  10. “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”
Oh, no. The feels are coming on.
  11. “___ game strong.”
Could be a selfie. Could be eyebrows. Could be pulling out.
  12. “He’s all right” when referring to your boyfriend.
We all know you’re in love with him and stalk his Twitter four times a day. Give it up.
  13. “It’s a ___ kind of day!”
This knows no boundaries and can range from ice cream to wool sweaters. Total cop out of a caption.
  14. “My favorite”/”My person” when referring to a friend/significant other.
You and I both know you have this same caption on five different pictures of five different people.
  15. “I love you to the moon and back.”
Oh yeah? Well, I love you to Pluto and back, so BEAT THAT..

It’s time to lay these captions to rest. You can do better.
