22-Year-Old College Student Speaks Out After Surviving The Paris Attack

Paris

The world is still shaken up after the Paris attacks this past week. As we express our condolences, change our Facebook profiles, and cry over the lives lost, it still doesn’t feel real. And despite the terror in this very real situation, it seems like a nightmare. Like something that happens in the movies, or happens to other people. Like it will never happen to us. That terror will never reach our personal lives. We’ll never be the ones going through this, except through the television and the internet.

One South African college student thought the same exact thing. Isobel Bowdery was just your normal college girl. She’s blonde, beautiful, and was excited to spend her Friday night doing something fun. Something exciting. Something Instagram worthy. According to her Facebook post, this girl who is so very, very much much like us was just attending your normal, weekend concert at the Bataclan Theater in Paris. But as we know, that show ended in absolute tragedy. The post has gone viral as more and more people are discovering Isobel’s story. Just remember, it’s real. And the horrors of the world can happen to anyone. Always be alert, always be in the moment, and live each and every day to your absolute best. One evening you might be the one living the nightmare.

Our thoughts are with everyone who was hurt by the Paris attacks and we’re grateful for brave people like Isobel who remind us what’s really important. Cherish everything you have, and hug your loved ones a little bit tighter this holiday.
