49 Things You Really (Really) Need To Thank Your Mom For

49 Things You Really (Really) Need To Thank Your Mom For

  1. For the way her voice can immediately make you tear up.
  2. And for always being there when you get really freaking scared.
  3. Or homesick.
  4. Or ridiculously happy.
  5. For understanding you in a way no one else does.
  6. And loving you even when you kind of hate yourself.
  7. For letting you pick the radio station.
  8. And the restaurant.
  9. And the movie.
  10. And asking way too many annoying, wonderful, mom-like questions.
  11. Those texts she sends just to ask you about your day.
  12. And the fact that she actually cares about the answer.
  13. For being the best alarm clock in the world.
  14. And letting you sleep “just five more minutes” every single time.
  15. For always making sure you that you looked cute and presentable.
  16. But letting you leave the house in a giant pink tutu every now and again.
  17. For teaching you how to be the very best version of yourself.
  18. And still being proud of you when you fall short of your goals.
  19. For not getting super mad when you called her a bitch.
  20. And laughing together when she called you one right back.
  21. Making you the best sandwiches in the world.
  22. And putting little notes in your lunch, when she knew you were having a rough day.
  23. For carrying you for nine whole months.
  24. And never letting you down from the day you were born.
  25. For driving you to school because you really, really, really didn’t want to take the bus that day.
  26. Or the next day.
  27. Or the next day.
  28. For being really excited when she found out she was having a daughter.
  29. And promising you that you exceed her every expectation.
  30. For telling you that boys will never stop playing games.
  31. But teaching you how to win every single one of them.
  32. For being the absolute best drinking buddy.
  33. And making you appreciate a glass of wine (or three) after a long day.
  34. For humoring you when you were sixteen, and told her that your boyfriend was “the one.”
  35. And wiping your tears when he ended up breaking your heart.
  36. That whole “squeezing you out of her vagina” thing.
  37. And that she hasn’t told you the graphic details of the event (seriously. Thank you).
  38. For patiently combing your rat’s nest of hair.
  39. And not killing you that time you tried to cut your own bangs.
  40. Or the time you turned your hair orange when you put way too much Sun In in.
  41. Or when you kept coloring the tips of your hair with highlighter because it was *~sOooOOOooOO cOoooOOL.*~
  42. For being a stay-at-home mom and devoting all of her hours to you.
  43. Or for working her ass off at her job to provide a wonderful life for you.
  44. For not being like other moms (and for being a cool mom).
  45. And for making you excited for the day you get to be a mom yourself.
  46. For making sure you feel loved each and every day.
  47. And for promising that no matter what, that will never change.
  48. The fact that she went from your mom to your best friend.
  49. And despite the fights and the disagreements, the distance and the days you don’t talk, there’s no one else in the world like her.
