5 Songs To Add To Your “End Of Summer” Playlist

Sadly, the days of sleeping until 2 p.m., binge watching 12 hours of Netflix, and finishing a bottle of wine every single night (okay, maybe you’ll keep doing that) will come to an end soon. Basically, summer is breathing out her last breaths. It’s heartbreaking, really. There’s still a weekend or two left to live out your final days of freedom, though, so with that said, you need some songs to get you ready for the last summer parties.

Beyoncé feat. Nicki Minaj – “Flawless (Remix)”

I know what you’re all thinking: “How can we get more flawless than we already are, Queen Bey?” Well, it’s very possible. Beyoncé is both singing and rapping–yes, I said rapping–and she proves that she can basically do anything. The best thing about the song for me is that she addresses the elevator incident between her hubby and sister that took place back in May. If that doesn’t do it for you, Nicki Minaj jumped on the track and broke the flawless meter. It’s a no brainer why you need this song on your playlist–you’re flawless and everyone needs to know.

Iggy Azalea feat. Rita Ora – “Black Widow”

Your boyfriend broke up with you right before summer started, because that’s the trend. But, now that the summer is coming to an end, he’s crawling back. This song is for you. Iggy made this song for our inner crazy bitch (don’t look at me like that–we all have an inner crazy bitch). You should embrace her for a little bit since your ex thought it was cool to break up with you for three or four months, sleep around with some skank whose daddy owns a yacht in Florida, then have the audacity to come back to you. Psh.

Jessie J feat. Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj – “Bang Bang”

This is the “I’m better than her no matter what” anthem for every girl. Your ex is talking to that girl he started dating over the summer and naturally, the first thing you think is, “I’m prettier than her, right?” Yes, you are. Let this ensemble of bad bitches–and those shots you took earlier–pump you up to go over and kiss him right in front of her.

Meghan Trainor – “All About That Bass”

I’m obsessed with this song and you should be, too. Let’s get real, a lot of us did not stick to those really ambitious goals to work out this summer and get that perfect body we’ve been fantasizing about, but it’s okay. My girl M. Trainer made this song for us ladies who have hips and a booty. This song will make you feel so good about yourself, and by the time you leave your house to wreak havoc in the streets, you’ll be full of confidence and sass–and for extra confidence and sass, play this song right after “Flawless (Remix).”

Nicki Minaj – “Anaconda”

In case you’ve been living under a rock, this is the song that caused an Internet frenzy with its single artwork, but the song is much more special–Nicki really touched my soul on this one. Not only did she take it back to the old Nicki Minaj (“Itty Bitty Piggy,” if you’re an old school Nicki fan) but she also sampled every drunk person’s favorite song, Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back.” It’s beautiful, really. I think I have a tear in my eye just listening to it right now. Nicki Minaj really did take over the end of the summer, and I’m not even complaining. Go put your twerking pants on, my big bootied goddesses, and make Nicki proud. If you don’t have the booty just yet, maybe this is the motivation to start doing those squat challenges you’ve been pinning to your workout board.
