For all of you Fifty Shades of Grey fanatics anxiously waiting for the movie release, you’ve finally got something to keep you company besides the e-books saved on your Kindle. Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James has announced her own wine label inspired by the series that’s available for purchase now.
You may not all have a soft spot for the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise, but if I know you as well as I think I do, you all have a soft spot for wine. James is releasing a red blend she’s calling Red Satin and a white blend she’s calling White Silk. James describes Red Satin as “a blend of “Petite Sirah and Syrah with flavors of black cherry, cocoa powder, creamy caramel and vanilla, leather and clove spice,” while White Silk will be a “Gewürztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc combination with floral aromatics of lychee and honey, tempered by flavors of crisp grapefruit, mineral and lush pear with a faint hint of butterscotch.” While most of you will probably guzzle down anything within arms’ reach at a party, those of you who have evolved beyond the Barefoot label might want to give these a go.
I’m not here to argue whether James’ series was good or bad, but it’s undeniable that it took the world by storm in a crazy erotic fashion. If these wines are anything like the books, they should instantly turn up the heat on a date, at a theme party, at a sleepover, or during a party for one. You can start ordering now at FiftyShadesWine.com with Daddy’s AmEx number since you already have it memorized. If you don’t really feel like explaining that purchase when he gets his credit card statement, James’ wine will start being available in liquor stores on September 30th for $17.99 a bottle. You’re welcome, ladies. Bottoms up!
