If you’re anything like me (and I think you are), you grew up obsessed with the idea of princesses. We’ve played dress up, idolized the Disney movies, and memorized every word to every princess song with the fantasy that one day it could be us. While being a princess is still one of my life goals, it doesn’t look like that’s very likely for me unless I can either snatch up Harry or wait until the royal baby is legal. I know that I need to have a backup plan, and if I can’t be a princess, I want to have a career that I absolutely love that allows me to make the world a better place. Mom Jaime Moore from Austin, TX apparently has the same goals and dreams for her daughter.
This incredible mom decided to have a photo shoot with her precious daughter Emma for her fifth birthday in which she reenacted classic portraits of five incredibly successful women whose achievements took the world by storm: Amelia Earhart, Coco Chanel, Susan B Anthony, Helen Keller, and Jane Goodall. Jaime explained the reasoning behind her photo shoot:
My daughter wasn’t born into royalty, but she was born into a country where she can now vote, become a doctor, a pilot, an astronaut, or even President if she wants and that’s what REALLY matters.
…Let’s set aside the Barbie Dolls and the Disney Princesses for just a moment, and let’s show our girls the REAL women they can be.
I absolutely love this. As sorority women, we know better than anyone the value of hard work and the joy that comes from being able to successfully make a positive difference in the world. We work incredibly hard to make sure that we’re doing things to make our letters stand out in a positive light by giving back to our communities at every chance we get. I love that this mother is taking the time to teach her daughter that just because you’re not an actual princess, doesn’t mean that you can’t make a contribution to our world in a very royal fashion. Besides, isn’t Emma precious?
Making a difference and looking fabulous while doing so. TSM.
