Earlier this week, we introduced you to a girl named Julie Dobbs, a Mizzou Chi Omega alum who was recently diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer. In honor of breast cancer awareness month, we’ve elected to support her, and invited you to do the same by donating money to her personal page. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, but none so positive as the brothers of Kappa Sigma at Missouri State.
Kappa Sig is hosting a breast cancer awareness philanthropy event, Kappa Sigma Cares, next Wednesday and Thursday, October 23 and 24. They’d been looking for an organization to donate to, when they came upon our story about Julie. As Julie attended college in their home state, they felt a particular tie to the story.
All day Wednesday and Thursday, outside of Plaster Student Union, Kappa Sig will be rocking out to some music, and giving out cotton candy for $1 and koozies for $3. No stupid contests. No mandatory sign-ins. Literally, walk by, give them money, get cotton candy (and who doesn’t love cotton candy?), and save a life. Every dollar they raise will be donated to Julie Dobbs to support her in her fight against breast cancer. No donation is too small.
If you happen to be walking by the student union next Thursday, donate some money for the cause. Do it for the boobies. Do it for the cotton candy. Do it because you want to make out with a Kappa Sig. I don’t care, just do it.
