Give Nudes A Chance

Nudes

“I’ll be right back. I have to send a nudie.”

“What? You’re insane.”

I ignored my housemate’s reasonable advice. We were in her room, and in the middle of crafting for Senior Week. I was in the process of hot-gluing rhinestones to a chug mug and had to brush the glitter off my hands before I could take a good picture with my phone in my bedroom. I took the photo topless, but with underwear on. Just a little teaser for my girlfriend who I’d known for about three days at the time. She was studying in the library, and told me she didn’t have time to hang out before her final. I needed a little leverage to sway her feelings in a different direction.
I arranged my body so the shadows fell perfectly over my least flattering angles and the sunlight accentuated my curves, and texted her the photo. Not a Snapchat—an actual photo. She could look at it for as long as she wanted. My boobs are worth more than a two second flash of screen time.

Now, I absolutely don’t think you should send a naked photo to every guy you’re interested in. That’s just not smart. If you dole out nudes like candy, it’s likely that way more people will see them than you intended, and there’s also the distinct possibility that they end up somewhere on the Internet. The last thing I want is for a picture of my ass to wind up on Google images. But, when done right, and sent to the right person, nudes are hot.

Sending one to my now girlfriend was a ballsy move. She could’ve been totally freaked out, or thought I was a little slutty or a little aggressive (both true on occasion), but I’m not the kind of girl who wants to have sex in the dark and then cover myself with a sheet as soon as we’re done. I’m not shy, and I’m not afraid to do something a little crazy in a heated moment. I unapologetically sent that nudie because it made me feel sexy and I felt like taking a little risk.

That’s also why it’s bold AF to send a nude. It means that you know you look good. There was no filter on that photo– it was just me being comfortable in my skin. And the fact that I was confident enough to do it was just as hot as the photo itself. If there was any doubt that this girl liked me, it vanished the moment I hit send. She was completely hooked, just like anyone else you’re interested in will be if you do nudes right.

Most girls now are so tired of being asked for nudes constantly that the very word is obnoxious. But she didn’t ask. I offered. And I got lucky in that she’s a trustworthy person who didn’t do anything stupid like post the photo online. Not everyone is like that. But if you’re really feeling someone, and you trust them, give nudes a chance. It just might be worth your while.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering, the girl who was “too busy studying” to hang out got my text, and replied immediately:

“Oh my god. I’ll be there in five minutes.”

Mission accomplished.

My favorite things are tiaras, compliments, and free drinks, which are becoming harder to come by the more I tend to show up at the bar in sweat pants. The proudest moment of my life so far has been landing an actual, paying job that allows me to Facebook stalk people for a living. I tweet about my mom way too often, who is constantly trying to remind me that I'm not nearly as cool as I think I am. Please send me funny stories to read at work here: shannon.laynee@yahoo.com
