If You’re A Bitch It Just Means You’re Smarter Than Everyone Else

Most people view being anti-social as a bad thing. I mean, just look at the word. It starts with “anti” which automatically sets it up to be negative. But according to a new study, it looks like preferring limited social interaction means you may have a higher IQ — a definite positive.

In a study published last month in The British Journal of Psychology, evolutionary psychologists Satoshi Kanazawa of the London School of Economics and Norman Li of Singapore Management University examined how friendship affects satisfaction with life and overall happiness. According to Cosmopolitan, the study had two major findings:

First of all, urban dwellers were generally less happy than those living in rural areas. Secondly, people reported higher life satisfaction with increased social interactions.

Duh, right? But it is the third finding that is good news for those of us who would rather spend Friday night at home with a pizza instead of at a party: people who are highly intelligent became less satisfied the more time that they spent with friends.

The effect of population density on life satisfaction was therefore more than twice as large for low-IQ individuals than for high-IQ individuals…more intelligent individuals were actually less satisfied with life if they socialized with their friends more frequently.

So the next time your friends try and guilt trip you into heading to the bar, just say that you’re simply too smart to go out. Of course, you’ll probably lose some friends in the process, but who cares? Isn’t that what you wanted in the first place?
