Victoria Beckham Is So Not Down With A Spice Girl Reunion

In honor of the 20th anniversary of the Spice Girls’ first single “Wannabe,” some of the members of the original band are putting on a special mini reunion tour for fans. The girls first reunited in 2007 in order to finally tour the United States with all five original members. The Spice Girls were originally supposed to come to the United States in 1998 but to every ’90s girl’s dismay, Geri left the group abruptly. The last three girls continued the tour without her, but it just wasn’t the same. The first reunion tour went spectacularly and some of the girls just aren’t feeling a second reunion. Bummer. We want more girl power!

Victoria Beckham just doesn’t feel she should try and fix something that isn’t broken. She claims it went so well the first time around it just wasn’t worth messing with it. Beckham stated, “I think I learnt a lot from the Spice Girls, most importantly how you can have everything one minute and then lose it the next.” Wise words from a wise and well-dressed lady. However, she doesn’t think the remaining girls should do their own music and not rely on the music of the Spice Girls.

Melanie B., Emma, and Geri have reunited and given themselves a new name: GEM. They plan on going through with the mini-tour for the fans and doing their old hits, but just the three of them. Posh Spice was not pleased. When asked if she supported the girls’ decision, she said, “Of course, as a new group, I do,” she said. “I [just] think they should sing their own material.” Very catty, Posh.

The funniest part of all of this is that Victoria sang very little on the tracks and had few solos. Most of the bigger roles went to Mel B. and Mel C., who had the biggest vocal range. Sadly, Mel C. is not on board either. She didn’t want to let people down, but in the end she had to go with her gut, which is understandable. But we will miss the Sporty part of the group, for sure.

As for the reunion, we ’90s babies are gung-ho for the group’s reunion. All of us grew up playing the Spice Girls in our backyard with our friends and we fought over which girl we got to play. Any reunion is a good reunion — we just wish all the girls would come to play.
