I would be lying if I said I didn’t use the emoji keyboard on my iPhone as a primary form of communication. I send birthday texts with an array of presents and champagne bottles. A “Where do you want to eat?” text gets met with wine glasses, tacos, and ice cream. And of course, when a friend gets back from a first date, I always always, always, always follow up with eggplant, peach, question mark. Unfortunately, this is about to change forever because as Apple plans to roll out new emoji in the near future, they’ll be taking the peach as we know it out of the lineup.
I know, I know, this is almost too much to bear. The peach will still exist, but it’s been reconfigured to look, well, like a peach, and a lot less like the butt that we use it for in all of our favorite communications.
This leak came from app developers, as they currently have access to the newest form of iOS, which is expected to debut for the general public pretty soon. While the loss of the peach butt is truly heartbreaking, we’re getting some good new emojis to work with, such as bacon, a shoulder shrug, and the female face palm, which I can’t wait to send to my boyfriend every single day. Besides, Apple is thankfully leaving us the eggplant which, let’s be honest, is the most important aspect of the eggplant-peach text as it currently stands. Sure, this loss is a serious blow, but we’ll just have to do what we do best when communicating with emoji – be creative..
