A Letter To An Envious Big

A Letter To An Envious Big

Dear Biggle,

I’m writing this letter to you because I think it needs to happen. No, we are not breaking up–just the opposite. You need a letter written to you so you can finally get it through your beautiful blonde head that you are my best friend and nothing will ever change that. Even if we become Eskimo sisters someday, or my mom trades me in for you because let’s admit it, she loves you more, you’d still be my best friend. You will always be my one and only big, and I will always love you.

The real purpose of this letter is to brace you for any additions to our family. Let me clarify this: our family will grow beyond just you and me, and I will get a little. My little will get a little–hell, maybe even twins! I need you to still remember that as my big, no relationship can compare. A little will have my heart, but only a small piece. You will have a piece all for yourself and you won’t have to share it with anyone. Let me explain why. From the beginning, you have been my protector: the protector from upperclassmen and bitchy girls, the protector from getting my heart broken. You have protected me from making drunk mistakes, but laughed uncontrollably at the one even YOU couldn’t stop. When I needed someone to lean on–or to fall asleep on–you were always there. When I rapped on stage during Greek Skit Night, you were my biggest fan. You have watched me puke at mixers, helped me get my shit together, then let me keep drinking. I can call you for rides, food, advice, or to gossip. Most of all, you have been the big who watches her insane, and out of control little blossom into a kick-ass sister.

This brings me to my next point. I have grown, and now you have to watch me take my own little. It’s my turn now to enjoy my little and create a bond just like the one you have with me. Please never feel replaced, because it’s literally impossible. I know every sorority girl says she will always be BFFs with her sisters forever and that they’ll be her bridesmaids and all that crap, but I mean it. From the bottom of my heart, no matter how sassy you are, I will always love you and appreciate all that you’ve done for me. You are my best friend and sister, and the most amazing big. You always will be. If I am half the big you are to me, my little will be incredibly lucky. I love you for always.
