The End-All Be-All “American Horror Story” Recap To Prep For The Start Of Season 6

American Horror Story: Freak Show (Season 4)

Recap:

The fourth season is about discrimination, particularly people who are classified as “freaks” by the public. The story takes place in 1952 in the quiet town of Jupiter, Florida and follows a struggling freak show led by Elsa Mars (Jessica Lange). Decades have passed since the public has looked upon freak shows as a form of entertainment, but Elsa dreams of finding a home for her “monsters”, as well as her own fame. When conjoined twins Bette and Dot Tattler (Sarah Paulson) are taken to the hospital, Elsa sees her chance to finally drum up some business for her sideshow, hoping the two sisters will save her troupe once and for all. Other members include Jimmy Darling (Evan Peters), a boy born with syndactyly who dreams of leaving the carny life behind and living a normal life. Jimmy’s mother, the bearded lady Ethel Darling (Kathy Bates), is Elsa’s second in command and maintains law and order under the tent. A Strongman from Ethel’s troubled past named Dell Toledo (Michael Chiklis), and his three-breasted wife, Desiree Dupree (Angela Bassett), make waves when they arrive at the sideshow. In a time when the era of television is beginning to reign high above sideshow acts, these individuals must overcome those who persecute them based on their looks. However, as events unfold, it is revealed that multiple dark entities have taken up residence in Jupiter, with all of their eyes being set on the freaks.

Best Things About Season 4:
• The makeup and graphics were phenomenal if you care about that sort of thing.
• Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka graced us with their presence.
• Emma Roberts and Evan Peters were dating/engaged IRL during the filming so we all fantasized about being hot and famous and engaged to our costar.
• Speaking of Evan Peters. Remember his hands? Yeah. I know you do. We ALL remember his hands.
• It showed social injustice and touched on equality which is pretty relevant nowadays.

Worst Things About Season 4:
• That. fucking. clown.
• The sex stuff wasn’t quite as hot because instead of being hot a lot of people were just really hairy.
• Evan Peters ends up married to two fucking women (okay one, but with two heads).
• It just…wasn’t as good for some reason.
• It’s (rumored to be) Jessica Lange’s last season.

(yeahokaywhat) Aspiring to be the next Tina Fey, Rachel spends her free time doing nothing to reach that goal. While judging people based on how they use "they're" vs. "there" on social media, she likes eating buffalo chicken dip, watching other people's Netflix, and wearing sweatpants way more than is socially acceptable.
