AOPi From Ole Miss Is Killed In Hit And Run Accident

It seems as though there are all too many instances lately of sorority women being taken from us too soon. The latest victim of this all-too-unfortunate reality is a member of Alpha Omicron Pi from Ole Miss.

20-year-old Carli Sears from Charleston, West Virginia was the victim of a hit-and-run around 2:30am Sunday morning in Morgantown, WV. Sears was a junior majoring in Hospitality Management at the time of her death.

Brandi Hephner LaBanc, Ole Miss’s vice chancellor for student affairs, confirmed Carli’s passing later on Sunday in a statement that read in part, “The University of Mississippi community mourns the tragic loss of Carli Sears. We are simply heartbroken by this news.”

Carli’s friends and family have mobilized to set up a Facebook page to memorialize Carli with pictures and stories. And, of course, her AOPi sisters are sharing beautiful remembrances.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance to find the driver involved in the incident. According to Metronews,”They are looking for a black pick-up truck that struck Sears on Stewart Street then left the scene. The vehicle should have damage to the right front fender area along with possible grill and passenger mirror damage, according to police.” Anyone with information should call Morgantown Police at 304-284-7522.
