All hail Queen Ashley. The beautiful, plus sized model now has her very own Barbie made to her own personal measurements. The Ashley Barbie includes; touching thighs, full hips, and she even asked for it have cellulite.
“She had to have her thighs touch. No ands, ifs or buts about it. And I asked for cellulite but obviously plastic and cellulite don’t go hand in hand,” Ashley said.
“It was important that the Barbie resembled me as much as possible. The thighs touching was one way to show young girls that it’s okay for your thighs to touch, despite society saying that a ‘thigh gap’ is more beautiful,” Graham said.
It’s been one of Ashley’s most talked about platforms to promote messages of positive body image, self-acceptance, and female empowerment, and she says her new Barbie doll will help do just that.
“If I had a Barbie that looked like this growing up, who knows what I would’ve thought about my thighs. I may not have hated them as much; I may not have thought they were so ugly. This is so important for younger generations of girls that are coming up — when they’re playing in the bathtub with their Barbie and she happens to have a rounder stomach, she’s going to feel like she’s just as beautiful because Barbie is the epitome of perfect.”
Doesn’t it just make your heart feel all warm and fuzzy inside?.
