As we saw on last night’s “Lip Sync Battle,” Queen Bey just casually dropping in on automatically takes it to the next level. Which is why the world rejoiced when it was announced yesterday that she was added to the Super Bowl halftime Show.
Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing inherently bad about the main act, Coldplay. It’s not like I turn the channel when “Paradise” or “Clocks” comes on in the car, but they aren’t exactly the kind of musical act that’s going to keep me glued to the TV during halftime when I could be stuffing my face with game day buffalo chicken dip.
But Beyoncé — that’s another story. She’s actually not my favorite performer (which I say in great fear of being attacked by the Beyhive) but even I admit that she absolutely slayed her halftime performance at the game in 2013.
Given that it’s the 50th anniversary of the Super Bowl, it’s expected that other big acts will be dropping into the halftime show, as well as the pre-game. But at the very least, I’ll be turning in for Beyoncé on February 7th – and hoping like hell that Kelly and Michelle show up again..
