Girl Scouts To Release Three New Flavors This Cookie Season

When most of us look back on our adolescent years, there is a good chance that playing with dolls, watching Disney movies, rummaging through our dress up boxes, and eating Girl Scouts cookies come to mind. Joining my Girl Scouts troop was the first form of sisterhood I ever had. If you think about it, there are a lot of similarities between Girl Scouts and sororities, such as raising money for philanthropies, doing service work, crafting, practicing secret rituals, holding mandatory meetings, and creating friendships that last a lifetime (or until fifth grade).

My favorite part about Girl Scouts was selling the cookies. I’m highly competitive, so I wasted no time when I got the order forms. I sold cookies day and night, in rain, sleet, snow, or sunshine. I made sure to comb my neighborhood so I could get an order from every single house. No big deal, but in 2001, I sold more than 100 boxes of cookies and beat every girl in my troop. I had my mom sew that 100+ badge right in the middle of my Brownie vest, but, like I said, no big deal.

Well, Girl Scouts just upped the ante for cookie salesgirls all over the country, as headquarters has released three new flavors for this year’s order forms. From Feb. 27 through Mar. 1 — which is National Girl Scouts Cookie Weekend — Rah-Rah Raisin, Toffee-tastic, and Trios cookies will be available for order. I’m a little jealous. These new flavors will send cookie orders through the roof.

Rah-Rah Raisin

Toffee-tastic

Trios

Girl Scouts are known for their all-inclusive mentality, and they haven’t forgotten about the cookie fans who maintain a gluten-free diet. Two of the three new cookies are gluten-free (Toffee-tastic and Trios). The Girl Scouts website describes the Toffee-tastic as “buttery cookies with toffee bits,” and the Trios as “made with real peanut butter, chocolate chips and whole grain oats.” The Rah-Rah Raisin is “an oatmeal raisin cookie with whole grain oats, plump, juicy raisins, and Greek yogurt-flavored chunks.” Don’t worry — classics like Thin Mints and Samoas aren’t going anywhere.

If you want to get your hands on a box of cookies, there is a free official Girl Scouts Cookie Finder app that features cookie sale searches, driving directions to nearby booths, an Instagram option for sharing, and the ability for users to vote for their favorite Girl Scout cookies.
