Has Photoshop Gone Too Far?

Screen Shot 2014-03-11 at 9.55.27 AM

It’s no secret that our society’s beauty standards have become unrealistic. The pressure to be perfect is hard on the people targeted by marketing firms, and we see this every day. Companies constantly Photoshop and distort the figures in their ads to sell not only a product, but an image. This unattainable image weighs harsh on viewers, and begs a very specific question: When it comes to Photoshop, how far is too far?

This shocking, recently released video reveals exactly how much Photoshop goes into an ad. The reverse time-lapse video shows the process of retouching the female body, and it opens our eyes to the manipulation of beauty. You won’t believe how far the media goes to distort the figure in the ad–the before and after shots are almost unrecognizable.

Every slice is beautiful.
