I love words more than Oprah loves bread. And to me, the most brilliant wordsmiths are people like JK Rowling who do more than create stories with words, but they create language — language that doesn’t exist, but follows the rules and patterns, and tones of real language. Genius. I’ve always wondered how they do it, and now, thanks to the people at Mental Floss, we have some answers…at least for the Harry Potter franchise. Turns out, most of it comes from Latin, French, and Spanish.
