As a dedicated Britney Spears fan, I consider it my duty to keep up with her Instagram account. As I was browsing the comments on one of the memes she posted, (Memeney forever) I came across Maegan Johnson’s story. She wrote a comment on the pic claiming that “Toxic” saved her life, and I knew immediately I needed to reach out to her.
Here’s Maegan’s story.
Hi, my name is Maegan Johnson, and I am 14 years old from Phenix City, Alabama. On December 22, 2008 I had a ruptured brain aneurysm (AVM) and the doctors said I wouldn’t lived another week. The doctors said if I live any longer I would never walk again. I am blind in my left eye, my left arm is practically dead and I wear an AFO on my left leg to help me walk! 🙂 On December 29, During a ten hour brain surgery to remove the AVM (aneurysm), I went to heaven. I met Jesus and my Mama’s MawMaw, and I saw my best friend once again who has passed away. After the surgery I couldn’t speak, and the doctors said I would never talk again. For six weeks I had to communicate on a dry erase board and became very depressed. I no longer wanted to smile or communicate. Special visitors came to the hospital to cheer us up like cheerleaders, dogs, and clowns, but nothing made me happy. One day, the song “Toxic” by Britney Spears came on the radio and I started smiling, waving my hand in the air and shaking my hips. That song was incorporated in all therapy sessions. I had to relearn how to do everything.
My journey didn’t stop 7 years ago. I now have chronic back pain and Arthritis in my back, scoliosis, and Dystonia/Spasticity. I live in pain daily. Just to get out of of bed in the morning, and going to school knowing that it is another day proves that I am strong, and I am a fighter. People at school tell me that I am an inspiration to them, and that makes me so happy. Since I am not like any other 14 year old, I guess I will live uniquely and continue sharing my story.
I really pray that I can get my story to Britney. I don’t really want, (yes I do) to become famous I just want her to see how she helped my miracle. For six years I have been trying so hard to get my story to her. I know people make up things for celebrities to feel sorry for them, but I believe her being a mother and an entertainer, that she would appreciate knowing the role she played in my recovery. She played a BIG role. For years I have tried through everything: radio stations, emailing, every social media several times, letters, etc., but with zero luck. I will not give up on trying to get my story to Britney.
I love you Rachel!!!! YOU are amazing!!!! God Bless!

LOOK. AT. HER. As crazy as I am to meet Brit, I would trade my opportunity any day to give it to this girl.
I think Maegan and I are kindred spirits. My favorite part of her email is when she says, “I don’t really want, (yes I do) to become famous”, and then ends it with an “I love you Rachel.” So cute. I want to take a trip to Vegas with Maegan, so we can jam out to Toxic and go on mission Meet Britney.
I believe in the power of the Internet. Let’s get these two together and make some dreams come true..
