A spoiled, arrogant high school senior is suing her parents for her college tuition. How, might you ask, can this young woman DEMAND in a court of law that her parents pay for her higher education?
Rachel Canning, who attends Morris Catholic High School, filed a lawsuit demanding her parents support her. Sure, that seems completely reasonable. BUT, a little digging around revealed that she is a rotten seed.
She’s claiming her parents “abandoned” her, yet she voluntarily left home and is mooching off her bestie’s family. This power trip has gone too far.
However, on the flip side, the saying “no bad dogs, just bad owners” could apply here. How did her parents raise such a rude and ungrateful child who is now demanding this money? News flash, sweetheart: higher education is a privilege. So are loving parents.
Her father said, “We love our child and miss her. This is terrible. It’s killing me and my wife. We have a child we want home. We’re not Draconian and now we’re getting hauled into court. She’s demanding that we pay her bills but she doesn’t want to live at home and she’s saying, ‘I don’t want to live under your rules.’ ” Hmmm, this seems fair. If you don’t want to live under their loving roof, go ahead and be independent out in the cruel world. Why should they have to pay for it? Unfortunately, the law doesn’t agree, and this case could go either way.
Other interesting tidbits of this case include witnesses seeing her bully her younger sister and her parents. An investigation showed she was indeed “spoiled,” and revealed why she chose to move out.
She might have a bright future, but with that attitude, I would hate to have her as a classmate. What right do you have, missy, to demand your parents fund your independent lifestyle over which they have no control? Hopefully she doesn’t have the right and her well-meaning parents are not required to pay for anything.
