“I saw Cady Heron wearing army pants and flip flops, so I bought army pants and flip flops.”
While the military look has been fashionable for a long, long time, the trends and styles typically include olive tones and structured jackets, not exact replicas of women’s military uniforms. But, this is exactly what H&M did when they unveiled a near complete copy of the uniform that the females wear in the Kurdish People’s Protection Units — you know, the women fighting ISIS. Naturally, people are outraged.

H&M, instead of being inspired by #Kurdish women #Peshmarga‘s clothes, be inspired by their bravery & sacrifices. #TwitterKurds #stereotypes — Amir M. Ashour (@AmirLemina) October 6, 2014
Intentional or not, H&M has since apologized for the incident. They have not, however, pulled the item.
“We are truly sorry if we have offended anyone with this piece, this was of course never our intention. The last seasons we have seen an increasing demand on jumpsuits and therefore we currently offer a selection of jumpsuits in different colors and materials, such as denim blue and deep red. The jumpsuit in question is made in a light and comfortable material and is a part of a larger collection consisting of many garments in khaki green, which also is one of the trendiest colors this season.”
What do you think? Offensive or awesome? .
