A while back, a guy I know told me that he thought that girls that overly used emojis were just not that smart. Of course, my response was hair flip emoji girl, because what the hell does he know? But according to a new study, it does mean at least one thing if you use emojis frequently – you’re horny.
The study, conducted by the “scientists” at Match.com, surveyed 5,000 singles and found that 36-40% of people who think about sex multiple times a day use more than one emoji in every text on average. The liars people that said they never think about sex use emojis less often, with those prevaricators who said they only think about doing it once a month using emojis the least.
In the category of “duh,” the study also found that, “the sexual connotations attached to emojis, including the eggplant, banana and smirking face have made it easier for people to initiate a date or a Netflix and chill session with just a few screen touches,” according to Medical Daily. I suppose this is true…I mean, I told a guy I was going to see over Thanksgiving break that I wanted to hook up by sending the turkey emoji followed by the eggplant. He got the message.
There is an upside for all of us emoji abusers out there. According to Helen Fisher of Match, “emoji users don’t just have more sex, they go on more dates and they are two times more likely to get married.” Cue the hair flip emoji, followed by the diamond ring emoji..
