Idina Menzel Wants Elsa To Be Gay In The “Frozen” Sequel

Elsa

I bought the Disney movie “Frozen” on DVD the day that it was released, and it was the best decision I made in my undergraduate career. That movie is fire. The CD is in my car right now, and my dad still can’t listen to ‘Do You Wanna Build A Snowman?’ without tearing up. Never mind the overplaying of ‘Let It Go’ and the remakes of it that the entire world was forced to listen to — it’s still a great song, and the soundtrack as a whole is even better. The scene where Elsa sings ‘Let It Go’ while building her ice castle awakened me sexually and I’m not ashamed to admit that. The way she goes from an uptight little princess who’s afraid to be herself to a confident queen who knows her worth (and is sexy AF) is something I’m all about. Elsa changes her dress, lets down all that beautiful hair, releases all those pesky morals, and now, all she needs is someone to share that perfect castle with.

Fans have been begging for Disney to give Queen Elsa a girlfriend in the sequel of Frozen, which I could totally see as viable since she’s literally too fierce for any spoiled prince I could think of (sorry, boys.) They took to Twitter and started the wildly popular #GiveElsaAGirlfriend campaign. And finally, the voice of Elsa herself, Idina Menzel, reached out with a response.

According to Idina, she’s totally into the possibility. Praise.

“I think it’s great,” she reportedly told Entertainment Tonight on Sunday at the Billboard Music Awards. “Disney’s just gotta contend with that. I’ll let them figure that out.” True, it is a big decision. The sequel to Frozen is already in the making, with both Idina Menzel as the voice of Elsa and Kristen Bell as the voice of Anna back on board for movie number two. Whether Disney writes in a girl-on-girl plotline for Queen Elsa remains to be seen, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Elsa to find someone as amazing as she is. Can I get a yaaaaassss queen?

My favorite things are tiaras, compliments, and free drinks, which are becoming harder to come by the more I tend to show up at the bar in sweat pants. The proudest moment of my life so far has been landing an actual, paying job that allows me to Facebook stalk people for a living. I tweet about my mom way too often, who is constantly trying to remind me that I'm not nearly as cool as I think I am. Please send me funny stories to read at work here: [email protected]
