Lady Gaga's Graphic New Music Video About Sexual Assault Is Hard To Watch

If you haven’t watched the trailer for Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering’s The Hunting Ground, you need to. It details campus sexual assault and aims to expose universities that actively try to cover up cases in an effort to maintain the schools’ brands. It’s terrifying. Women speak out about being silenced by the schools in a way that makes it impossible not to get emotional.

As the documentary’s release date nears, Lady Gaga has contributed a theme song for the film: Til It Happens To You, which she cowrote Diane Warren. The video, directed by Catherine Hardwicke, is a graphic and emotional narrative following girls who are sexually assaulted or raped on college campuses. The lyrics send a clear message:

Til it happens to you, you don’t know how it feels
Til it happens to you, you won’t know. It won’t be real.

The video, below, is graphic.

Wow.
