Just like in fashion, some trends in makeup are hard to get behind. Chokers? I’ve bought seven within the last six weeks. Highlighter? Can’t leave the house without it. The newest trend in makeup is metallic everything, and while I love it on the lips, I’m not sure how I feel about this metallic foundation that MAC may or may not be coming out with.
Senior MAC makeup artist Dominic Skinner posted this sneak peek of the ultra-glowy product last week during Paris fashion week and makeup lovers went crazy. There’s no way of knowing whether this will actually be available to purchase, as plenty of MAC products that have debuted at fashion week never made it to the shelves, but Dominic did tag #ComingSoon, so I’d say it’s a strong possibility. 2016 is definitely the year of the glow, and while I love a strong highlight and sparkly glitters on the lid, I really don’t know how to feel about this metallic foundation.
It’s definitely beautiful, no doubt about that, but I think if you have any kind of texture or blemishes on your face, the strong metallic finish would only highlight those areas you’re trying to hide. Unless you have perfect skin and a flawless complexion, I feel like this foundation wouldn’t look good on you. If you have perfect skin, it would add a dewy glow to the skin that would look phenomenal, but who has perfect skin? Kendall Jenner and her model gang? Yeah, I can see them pulling this off. But I can tell you right now, there’s no way you’ll catch my large-pores-having ass in this foundation.
I think I’ll stick to applying highlighter in my cheekbones for now..
