Mila Kunis And Ashton Kutcher Were Just Supposed To Be Hook Up Buddies, Defied All Odds And Lived Happily Ever After

Mila Kunis Ashton Kutcher

It’s every girl’s fantasy: you and the cute guy you’ve been hooking up with for awhile fall for each other after you both realize you don’t want to see the person with anyone else. Sure, in the beginning you said you would “keep it casual,” but you just couldn’t help it — the feelings were too strong. More than getting swept away by Prince Charming, this is what every girl wants. You know why? Because it never freaking happens. You’re always the one who falls for the guy you’re hooking up with and he never cares.

Unless you’re two super hot, super famous people, like Mila Kunis and her now-husband Ashton Kutcher.

We already know this couple is perfect. They first met on the set of That 70s Show in 1998 with Mila playing Jackie, Ashton Kutcher’s onscreen girlfriend. She was only 16 at the time. They went on to have their own successful careers, seeing other people, living separate lives, until they reconnected again and fell in love. They got married in secret and have one baby together, with another on the way.

What people don’t know is how or why the duo reconnected. They started dating in 2012, when Ashton had just divorced Demi Moore and Mila had just ended her relationship with Macaulay Culkin. Mila went on Howard Stern recently and told the story of how Mila and Ashton went on to become Mila and Ashton. She explained that they were just supposed to be friends with benefits, but of course, that didn’t work out too well.

From Refinery 29:

“We both were in agreement. ‘Yeah, this is just fun. Just fun.’ Shook hands on it. Just fun. We’d literally attempt to go see other people, and then that night we’d be like, ‘Hey! What are you up to? Wanna come over?’It ended up going from just having fun to genuinely wanting… When I realized I was nervous was when I spoke to him. I was like, ‘I don’t like this anymore.'”

If that plot line sounds familiar, it’s because it’s the basis of almost every rom-com, but most notably “Friends With Benefits” and “No Strings Attached,” starring, you guessed it, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, respectively, as the leads. Both of those movies came out in 2011, and I remember that because they are literally the exact same movie, and I remember I couldn’t keep straight which was which.

“If we just paid attention to these movies, we should know that shit like this does not work out in real life. Well, we clearly didn’t pay attention,” Kunis said.

Their life is literally like a movie. THEIR movies. The only way this could’ve been any more storybook-perfect was if they had met on the set of one of those movies. The casting directors for both movies really messed up.

See, you guys? It IS possible to turn that hookup into a husband! But only if you’re both beautiful actors who were friends for almost 20 years before reconnecting. Otherwise, you’re shit out of luck.
