I’m going to be honest; I don’t get the whole One Direction craze. Call me a hater, but to me, they will always just be a knock-off *NSYNC or Backstreet Boys. However, 1D just released their new music video for the song ‘History’ and oh my god, it even makes me feel all the feels.
The throwback black and white videos? I can’t. Including footage from when the boys (quite literally boys back then) won X Factor? My heart can’t take it. Recordings of happier days with Zayn goofing off with his friends and bandmates? Actual, literal tears.
The song and the music video are the perfect ending for the band. It’s no secret that then band is about to begin a hiatus for an unspecified amount of time. Couple that with Zayn’s departure almost a year ago and it seems like the end of an era is upon us. But they ended on a high note, with a nostalgic video that celebrates all of One Direction’s journey. I don’t think fans could have asked for a better song and video from the guys.
Well done, One Direction.
