Prabal Gurung For Target Launches

Aside from the Grammys, something else pretty epic occurred on February 10th: Prabal Gurung’s line LOVE was released at Target. Ever since his runway debut in 2009, anyone who’s anyone has been seen wearing Prabal Gurung, including but not limited to Zoe Saldana, Jennifer Lawrence, Demi Moore, the FLOTUS, and my personal inspiration, style icon and imaginary big, Kate Middleton.

Prabal Gurung is probably one of my favorite new designers from New York Fashion Week. His Spring 2013 collection is everything a girl could want in a runway show. His looks have both structure and movement, they’re romantic and tailored, and they utilize print and color in the right way. He is able to maintain a design style that says, “I’m fun, but I have my shit together.” Prabal Gurung’s Spring 2013 line is clearly perfect for a girl who lives at a resort, but still has a serious, super lucrative 9-to-5 job, because it features ensembles that are perfect to take from the office, to happy hour, to dinner with your hot boyfriend. His line speaks to the woman who knows that you don’t have to dress like a slut in order to look great, but wants just enough sheer fabric in her wardrobe for the times she needs to party with the occasional Kardashian. That’s pretty fucking major, when you think about it. Ordinarily, most of his designs start at $1,500, which is a bit excessive if you’re flooding your entire wardrobe with it.

Luckily, the fashion genius has decided to slum it for a little while by creating a line of totally affordable, and totally amazing pieces from every sorority girl’s favorite store: Target. Do you realize how epic this is? Take a minute. The LOVE line is appropriately named because I LOVE every item in the 98 piece collection, which includes dresses, skirts, tops, shoes and jewelry.

The pieces in the collection are all absolutely gorgeous. The entire line features bright colors, and two of Prabal Gurung’s signature prints. I’m usually not a huge fan of prints at all, because I generally feel a lot of “designers” (*cough* Lilly Pulitzer *cough*) use prints as a way to cover up lack of structure or innovative styling. That is not the case with this line, which uses print to enhance the outfit and create depth and dimension in all of its pieces. The jewelry is mainly chunky, geometric shapes, which are pretty hot right now, and of course, pair nicely with the dresses Gurung brought to Target. There are also a variety of shoes, to complete your look, ranging from the basic flat, to strappy, lace-up sandals, to the classic pointy-toed pump.

Basically, all of you need to run to Target and pick up every piece you can of the line before it leaves stores, because all pieces were made in limited quantity and once they’re gone, they’re gone. In fact, the line pretty much sold out online by the end of its first day live, so stake your claim in the limited edition collection before it’s gone.
