I’ll just admit it: I’ve never been a fan of the pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks. I just don’t get all the hype. If I’m going to have pumpkin flavored anything, I’d prefer it to be in pie form, as the good Lord intended it to be.
I thought I was the only one who didn’t like the cult fall favorite, but according to data gathered by MyFitnessPal, there’s a growing number of us this season. The food-tracking app has seen a decrease in the amount of PSLs people are drinking since 2013.
The data shows that 2010-2012 were peak PSL years, but then things started going south in 2013. If the data continues on the trend it’s currently on, PSL’s will face an even bigger decrease in consumption this year.
While the PSL is on its way out, MyFitnessPal has discovered that the salted caramel latte is on the rise.
I’m happy for the salted caramel latte finally getting the recognition it deserves. The PSL craze was really just due to the novelty of the drink. Supply and demand, people. If someone tells you you can only drink something at a certain time of the year, you’re going to want it all the time. Salted caramel keeps it one-hunnid year round. That’s admirable.
Eff the PSL. Team Salted Caramel Latte all the way. .
